Since
this Brisbane-based company’s formation
in 1999, impediMed seeks to be the global
leader in the field of bioimpedance and
firmly has plans in place to achieve its
goals. These include entrusting all facets
of manufacturing and service to Startronics
for our expertise in electrical engineering
and infrastructure support.
“ImpediMed
has a range of devices which allow for
monitoring of certain medical conditions
such as heart disease, oedema, obesity
and nutrition and thus provides greater
guidance for therapeutic decisions,”
said ImpediMed General Manager, Neville
Bertwistle. Research conducted at The
University of Queensland and The Queensland
University of Technology produced a breakthrough
in the scientific field of bioimpedance.
By using the principles of bioimpedance,
ImpediMed markets and distributes point-of-care
medical devices that assist health professionals
provide better patient care.
The SFB7 is a single
channel, tetra polar bioimpedance spectroscopy
device that scans 256 frequencies between4
kHz and 1000 kHz. This particular piece
of equipment will make a meaningful difference
in countless patients’ lives as
it determines total body water, extracellular
fluid and intracellular fluid from impedance
data. The body’s fat-free and fat
mass are then calculated on the device.
The SFB7 is also a bioimpedance spectroscopy
device that is capable of early detection,
risk assessment and monitoring of unilateral
and bilateral lymphoedema. This analysis
is becoming an accepted medical procedure
to determine body composition due to its
simplicity, speed and noninvasive nature.
At Startronics,
we manufacture and assemble the SFB7 –
ImpediMed flagship product. This project
involves:
• Surface Mounting of Ball Grid
Array
• Through-hole soldering
• Software Load
• PCA Testing
• Functional Testing on SFB7 and
unit final built
• Packaging for customer delivery
